I am so pleased to be able to feature Jill Crossland on PinkExpertise. We have enjoyed several long conversations during our friendship between the UK to Canada where Jill lives. We've spoken about our businesses, working with women in particular and I know from experience that the talent she has highlighted is spot on.
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I have a few talents and I am comfortable saying that because having a clear picture of who we are is one of the privileges of midlife, but I digress. I have strong communication skills and by that I mean I am an attentive listener and I know how to respond to my clients. This is balanced with good instincts so even if a client is on the phone and thousand of miles away, I quickly get a sense of how they are feeling through their words and tone of voice. I am also very curious; a student of life, always watching, reading, learning and this enables me to bring new perspectives and fresh ideas to both my personal and professional life.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
In my early forties, I didn’t like the way the memoir in my head was reading “At 41 Jill continued on her career path until her retirement at……..” that wasn’t me. What I knew for sure was, I could start my own business, I wanted to work with women, I had no intention of retiring and I needed to explore the untapped parts of myself.
Life & Business Coaching seemed like the natural fit to combine my talents, experience and goals. I have discovered my inner editor and created an online magazine. This enables me to reach out to some incredibly talented women which is actually how I met Lynette. I am also writing articles and a blog, so maybe in ten or so years that memoir will take shape after all.
If you're interested in women in business then you'll want to click onto Jill's on-line magazine. To find out more about her coaching, click here or if it's her blog you'd love to read, click here. Why not be featured here yourself? We love to profile talented women but you have to let us know you exist! E-mail your answers to Jill's questions above and send them to lynette@pinkskills.co.uk
