Ah now keeping secrets isn't necessarily the first thing that might spring to mind when you ask someone what their talent is, however, I recognised this one instantly! As a coach it's my job to keep many secrets for many people. Being known as someone who is trustworthy with your most precious thoughts is high on the agenda for any coach but Annie O-Neil, a divorce coach uses this talent brilliantly.
Do you have a talent for keeping other peoples thoughts confidential? Perhaps gossip is your pet hate? Then you're going to love Annie's answers, so carry on reading...
1. What talent do you naturally have that makes you successful?
I am a very good listener and I know how to keep a secret! People have always told me their troubles in the knowledge that it wouldn’t go any further. I listen, without interrupting and without offering unwanted advice.
The second ‘talent’ I have is that I learn from my mistakes, and there have been many! I have a rich life experience that enables me to empathise with women in all sorts of situations.
2. When did you first realise that talent was going to help you and how do you use it?
When I started studying to be a Life Coach I realised that I had been ‘coaching’ for much of my life. One of the most important things about coaching is the understanding that we all have our own answers, we just need a Coach ask the right questions to bring them to the surface. I think I have always known that my solutions would not necessarily suit others. Another valuable skill in coaching is the ability to allow people the space to think and I have never found silence uncomfortable.
When it came to finding a coaching ‘niche’ it seemed obvious that I should work with divorced women, having been divorced and widowed and recovered and rebuilt my life both times.
